The doctors just finished morning rounds, so here's today's news: Nina's bilirubin is up slightly, but they're not concerned since she's pooping regularly. Her weight is up 40 grams from yesterday! This is her first time gaining weight since birth - it's naturally for babies to lose weight in the first few days. She's up to 13 cc's of mommy's milk per feeding (every 3 hours)... so hopefully she'll start to fatten up!

How old am I?
Tomorrow morning at 2:57am, Nina will be one week old... sort of. For a while, Nina is actually going to have two ages: her birth age and her gestational age. Her birth age is dated from April 2, 2010. Her gestational age is dated from her due date - June 23, 2010! So tomorrow morning she will be one week old AND she will have the physical maturity of a 29 week + 5 day old baby in utero. Likewise, when we celebrate her 1st birthday on April 2, 2011, she will probably be about 3 months shy of the developmental maturity of a one year old. Many preemies catch up to their birth age peers in the first few years of life, but we'll have to watch her progress closely.
